Steve is married to Catherine (Katie), they have two children - Leo and Viviana. Steve and family live right in the middle of the Mt. Horeb community.
Steve has been in the Auto Repair industry since 1983, and began working in the shop area at a local gas station as an apprentice technician. He worked at Goodyear Auto Service Center for 10 years as a technician and was also a Snap-On Sun Technical Representative for Snap-On Tool Corporation, specializing in Diagnostic Equipment Consulting, Training, and Sales.
Steve was also a Service and Repair consultant for other southern Wisconsin auto repair facilities. His experience includes installing and training customers on Computer-based Service Manuals and Shop Management systems.
Steve finally became an Auto Repair Shop owner in August of 2001, and having run a home-based automobile repair business for 10 years.
Steve's certifications and training include ASE Certified Master Auto Technician, EL-1 Engine Performance diagnostics, and Heavy Duty Trucks, among many others certifications. He has received training in several areas of the repair industry, including engine performance systems, ignition systems, fuel injection, carburetion, brakes, and suspension systems.
Steve has a strong belief in the need for quality service in the auto industry. He feels that having a staff of quality professionals to serve the local community is essential, which includes having the proper tools and facility to provide top-shelf service to his customers.
Since Steve has worked in the service industry most of his working life, he recognizes the value of honesty and integrity, and treating people fairly. Steve realizes that owning a vehicle is a large part of a customer's budget, and giving a customer a reasonable idea of how to handle their automotive investment gives him a tremendous amount of pride.

Tracey is our Service Manager and our go-to person for all of your auto service-related questions. He is ready to answer the phone and handle all of your automotive service needs. In fact, Tracy is probably the person you'll talk to whenever calling us to set up an appointment, ask questions about our services, or just to say hello!
To describe Tracey, he is honest, direct and straight to the point when it comes to telling you about your vehicle's service needs. He is simply unable to say something that he does not believe to be true, so you can be completely confident that your vehicle will be taken care of fairly and honestly.
Prior to coming to Helwig Auto, Tracey's career has included 7 1/2 years at Weaver Auto Parts and 8 1/2 years Iowa County Chrysler.
Tracey is married to Amanda, and has 5 children. When he has some free time, he enjoys to do things with his family, go four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, and camping.

Zac Johnson is our much-needed service advisor here at Helwig Auto Clinic, helping Steve and Tracey manage the front end of the business. Zac has over 14 years experience in the automotive industry and is dedicated to providing the most professional, honest automotive service possible. As he told us, "taking care of the customer is my #1 priority", and he is obviously very excited to be working with us.
Outside of work Zac enjoys owning, showing and racing classic muscle cars and collecting muscle car memorabilia, watching or attending the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, spending time with friends and family and playing with his Boston terrier, Gus. He also enjoys working outdoors and watching his favorite TV shows when time allows.
The one weakness that Zac has expressed, but we don't hold it against him too badly, is that he is a Minnesota Viking fan! Oh well, nobody is perfect!

Keith is our automotive guru, performing the majority of the diagnostic and technical service work, as well as assisting others in the shop as our in-house consultant. He has many years in the automotive service field, working in several dealerships as well as a few independent facilities. While at Goodyear Service Center he and Steve Helwig met.
Keith has a depth of knowlege that is a real asset to our team. Keith is a workhorse who sets the standard for automotive service excellence. He always gives a thorough review of vehicle condition, and what items require service. He believes the customer should be informed to allow them to make the right decision regarding their vehicle repairs. He will do his part to give an honest assessment and works with Tracey (our Service Manager) to develop a plan to keep everyone's vehicles running in top condition. Keith is truly a person to admire as an ethical, no-nonsense technician, dedicated to getting the job done right.
Keith is ASE certified Master Automotive Technician, trained in Domestic and Imported vehicles including light trucks. Keith recently attended strengthened is skills by attending a week-long Automotive "Guru" school. Read more about the class by clicking here.
When Keith has some free time he enjoys being with his wife Tina and five children, four-wheeling, hunting and fishing.

Kevin has recently graduated from MATC Automotive Technician program, and is a certified Master Auto Technician (Master ASE L1-Certified) who has worked on our team during his high school and college career. His level-headed approach, mechanical ability, and attention to detail make Kevin a valued member of our team.
Kevin has been with us at Helwig's for over 5 years, and on the side works on the family farm. When he has some free time he enjoys farming, four-wheeling, and snowmobiling.

Terry Bystol joined our team in September 2006, and brings with him years of experience in all areas of automotive service. Terry performs all areas of automotive service from regular maintenance, detailing, classic and exotic vehicle service.
From 1976 to 1999, Terry was the owner of Terry's Towing & Repair. From 1999 to 2003, Terry was half-owner of Kevin's Towing & Equipment. Then from 2003 to 2006 he was the Owner-Operator of King Street Auto.
Terry attended MATC and enjoys antique cars, toys & advertizing in his free time. He is married to Mary Jo and has one daughter, Julia.

Leroy is one of our certified technicians living in the Mt. Horeb area and has been working with us since February of 2003. Leroy is an ASE Master Certified technician, and has many of certifications including ASE L1 & L2, ASE X1, ASE Medium Truck, Electrical, and Diesel.
Leroy's talents allow him to help us at the counter on weekends, and can fill in for service work as needed as well.
In his off time Leroy enjoys hunting, fishing, and cars(!). He is single but currently involved.
Leroy graduated in 2004 from Universal Technical Institute in the Automotive, Diesel, and Industrial Technologies curriculum.

Catherine, (Katie), lives in Mt. Horeb with her husband Steve, son Leo and daughter Viviana. She is responsible for administrating office duties, helps in coordinating events, and looks forward to using her Spanish in the auto repair industry.
Katie feels blessed to share this life with her wonderful husband Steve, and two children, Leo Viviana! She enjoys being a Mother, and the adventure it brings!
Katie says that she is thrilled to be a part of the great crew at Helwig Auto Clinic. Her hobbies include writing, dancing, kayaking and traveling.
Katie has a degree in Speech Communications and Spanish from the UW Oshkosh.

Mark Steingraber joined our team in March of 2010. He is an ASE master automotive technician with experience in Domestic and Import vehicle repair. Mark has displayed a dedication to our industry, and customer service, and has a level headed approach to servicing today’s automobiles and light trucks
A goal of Mark was to find an independent community repair shop with a dedication to continued education in the automotive industry. When Mark applied for the position of Auto Technician one thing stood out on an e-mail to apply, “I work hard to make sure the job is done right, so the customer is happy with the service he or she received.”
This pretty much sums up the philosophy at Helwig Auto Clinic. We are grateful to have Mark on our team!

Nick Joined our team May 2011, as we were in need of someone to help us keep up with the steady flow of general maintenance work. He is a recent graduate of Ohio Technical College with a diploma in Auto Mechanics. As and apprentice Nick is performing regular maintenance as well as continuing training for more technical service.
We are pleased to have Nick on our staff!
Nick is from Sun Prairie and enjoys the outdoors, and riding 4 wheelers and motorcycles with friends and family.
